As horrid of a man as Barty was, even with the horrors of his last days, if I'd know Dolohov was still alive, I would have done what I could to return whatever of the body there was to him.

He saved my life. I'm doing what I am now because of what he taught me. He wounded me terribly after in unforgivable ways, and his litany of sins, 'transgressions' as he would say, is longer than most anyone else's. But we owed him his son's body, if nothing else. As you were owed your brother's

You shake your opponents hand after a match. You don't desecrate the enemy's dead. What are we

There are a few of us who worked closely with Antonin. We saw the good he did along with his murderous hatred.

I'm actually sleeping at the castle tonight. I'll be in the gardens at dawn if you wish to join me. If his beliefs are true for his soul, maybe we can help him be those better parts and purify away his many horrors. We can't forget those horrors, or we risk falling down his path, but he changed Hogwarts in many good ways.

Siz, do you think Evelyn or Sally-Anne would want to be invited? I know their relationships with him were even more fraught than ours.

I’ve caught bits and pieces of what others have said. When I said yes to clerking, I hadn’t joined. I was Harry’s man, but I knew nothing else. Then. That came later, not all of us flew close to our mentors to put a wand at their backs with intent. We were just students joined in fighting a petty tyrant. I knew Harry had friends, we’d started talking. How else could he have disappeared Sarah? I can’t recall what’s been played out in public, yes Sarah’s alive, we got her away from that damned pink… well one less dead student weighing on your scales. There are so many so so many others. That’s what caught me in your orbit, her stupid brother’s pointless

I danced the night they saved Arista and Hector from that madman’s thing. Pureblood innocents. Not that blood matters to you. Felt useless that night too. Merlin, Linus is easy to manipulate, even for a Badger. He knew nothing, just that that I asking him to dance concpp conspic blatantly to help distract when they all left. I hear you let them go that night. Battle of Hogwarts would have ended entirely differently if you hadn’t. Do you regret anything?

You made me sit outside the door while the HEAD OF MY HOUSE was tortured, YOU tortured her. You tortured one of the most loyal, hardest working women I’ve ever known to death because there might have been some money missing. Linus is good with his numbers, it’d kill him if we told him what he did giving you those numbers.

I’m twice dead already, couple other close flown spots, down a limb now just like the Razzer. I wouldn’t be where I am without the two of you. Or all the smart, brave, sneaky, loyal Order members who gave me something to do with the rage you two started started with your questions and training.

Merde tlaking to too many French. think i'll have another.

Still at work. Dolohov & Pomona have been closeted in his office, he has just stepped out and asked me to floo call Bella to have her come to Hogwarts "immediately, don't use the journals, where people can see". He's back inside, couldn't see Pomona.

I saw you dropping off one of your famous analysis projects. What does he have you digging into this time?
Did you continue with the Quiditch analysis or has that been abandoned under the weight of NEWTS, Head Boy duties and a girlfriend?

Speaking of Head Boy, how's the year going? I'm sure it's been good working with Daphne.

I'm with the Cannons during the day today, but I could come back to the Castle after supper, tomorrow or both, if need an extra wand to handle floo calls and owls from parents.

Do you need me?

Mr Charlie Weasley,

Headmaster Dolohov would like to meet to discuss another lecturing opportunity this coming school year. He expects it will take about twenty minutes and should be scheduled in the next couple of weeks. When would you be available to come to Hogwarts to meet with him?

Thank you for your consideration,
Cedric Diggory on behalf of Headmaster Antonin Dolohov CW, M. NA

I have personal good news. At the meeting this afternoon the Cannons offered me a part time practice squad job, effective July 1st. I'm not yet ready to play in games, but they clearly think I will be at some point and are going to some trouble to keep me contracted to them.

While I'm excited about this opportunity, it is part time and therefore quite low paying. Would you be interested having me continue my current job on a part time basis? Looking at their schedule I figure that I can work for about thirty hours a week. Some of that would be evening hours, but there's no reason I can't work on correspondence and various other matters then. While next year I won't have the same need to be close to what Hogwarts has to offer, I have enjoyed working for you this year and believe I would do so again next year.

I have the marking done for all the exams up through Noble Arts OWLS . I’ve attached them all to the appropriate essays and they are in your temporary desk under the usual hexes. I should finish the other two years this evening. I’ve noted anything odd. You should go over B Burbage and M Iskanderian yourself. You’ll see why.

I’ve also finished first and second year Defence and merged their written portion with the practical scores Professor Lestrange had recorded. I may get to some more tonight, it depends on how long Noble Arts takes to finish. Whatever I don’t finish tonight, will get marked and merged tomorrow. I’ll have it on your desk as soon as possible Deputy Headmistress.

An extremely dangerous book, Cruor Invictus, which Professor Dolohov has been using to demonstrate protection charms and devices commonly used to contain dangerous artifacts is missing. We believe it is still in the castle.

It is in a large dark wood and crystal case. Various protective runes are inscribed on the crystal and burned into the wood. The book itself is just over a foot tall, about eight inches wide and two inches thick. The cover appears to be a dark stained leather with the title embossed on the front cover and and ornate CI on the spine. If you stumble across it cover it with a cloth and report it immediately. When removed from its case it will slowly fill the room with an aroma of decay and cinnamon. If you smell this, leave the room immediately, don’t bother covering it, just leave and close the door. Under no circumstances should the book be touched with your bare hands.

I may have made a mistake.

Were any of you trying to get into Dolohov's office this evening for the contest or otherwise? Several of his wards were tampered with while the very dangerous book he had out in NEWT class today was still on his desk.

If it was one of you lot, I'm really sorry. I told him immediately after discovering the ward tampering.

If any of you need access to his space for this contest or something else, please talk to me first. I can either talk to you about his extensive security, help you or at the very least not tell him the instant I find evidence of your presence.

Again I'm sorry. I should have checked here first before signaling him.

Antonin,

I've been studying in the library and went to return Defence in the Dark and Mitchel's translation of Sanguinem Praesidia. The door to your office was open and both the first and second wardings on your office appear to have been tampered with. As far as I could see from the door nothing had been disturbed, but the warded case for Cruor Invictus is still on your desk and not in the locked cabinet.

Should we expect your return tomorrow? If not I will prepare for another day of overseeing directed revision and asking Socratic questions about the reading.

If you expect to be unable to resume your full schedule by the end of the week, I will shift the schedule to push back your quizzes and reschedule the fire call with Mysteries to an open time as early next week as possible.

I hope every thing is going well for you.

All of Professor Dolohov's classes are cancelled for today as he is unexpectedly unavailable. I will be in his classroom at normal class times to allow for study. As Professor Dolohov will not be present his normal rules for Noble Arts work without supervision will be in effect. In particular that means that essence magic isn't quidditch. Don't let me catch you mucking about with it.

The large meeting with several of my healers is Thursday morning. I should be cleared for work, as we discussed, side-along apparition and to begin flying again. Assuming all goes well with the healers I will be in Hogsmeade on Friday to finalize my lodgings in one of the flats over Madam Rosemerta's. The healers settled on the walk or broom ride being more advantageous than overly stressful.

Will you be back at the castle Friday afternoon? If you aren't available then I'll see you Monday morning to begin my new position.

Sincerely,
Cedric

Thank you again for your offer.

After careful consideration, I have decided to tentatively accept your job offer in late summer. I ought to be entirely capable of the majority of clerking duties by that time. We discussed my concerns about my stamina and the physical act of writing (or having to rely on dictation quills with their imprecision), though I have high hopes for improvements in both areas over the next several months.

I appreciate that you conz considered me for this position given the various issues with my circumstances. Easy access over the next year to Hogwarts staff and resources will be a truly wizard an extremely beneficial perk while I am revising again for my NEWTs.

As we discussed, this is all dependant upon my health continuing to improve and being cleared for ott office work by the various healers overseeing my care.

I look forward to working for you zoom soon.

Yours in service,
Cedric Diggory

Professors,
Linus has finished his analysis last night. I have copies for each of you, several copies for professors you think would be interested and a number of others that you might wish to pass on to interested parties outside the school. When it's all laid out on parchment, it's very telling just how targeted this has all been.

Professor Siz I'll stop by tonight to discuss this and another matter related to our last conversation. I can come by as soon as you are back or wait until the end of observation. I have a few more readings I could take tonight if the weather remains clear.

Professor Dolohov, I'll drop your copies off during your office hours. If you have any questions please ask and I'll be happy to try to answer, though if they have to do with the arithmatical analysis Linus would of course be a better resource.

Professors,
I know that he has extensive detentions with the both of you and that he respects and admires your advice, so I was wondering if given his present circumstances either of you know Mr Moon's whereabouts?

I'd ask him in the journals myself, but well we knew that wouldn't work today.

I have an idea he should now feel ethically free and entirely capable of helping with even given his present difficulties.

I am presently in the sett, if he knocks I'll come out to him.
alt_cedric: Cedric in black and yellow (Default)
Professor,
While discussing the recent displays of colossal irresponsibility and poor judgement, Professor Siz let me know that you have acquired mostly complete notes of what occurred at these meetings. As captain of the house team, I need to decide how culpable Zach Smith and Hephaestus Bobolis were in Jason Samuels's injury. Would it be possible for me to look over the notes for the meeting immediately before our match? I would like to know what prior knowledge they had of his condition before I decide how severely to sanction them for their on pitch failure of judgement, reckless behaviour and endangerment of a fellow Quidditcher.

Thank you for your consideration.
