Look this is sort of embarrassing. I'd asked Tyche if she would be free to go to St Mungo's Gala as a friend as my plus one with the tickets Antonin offered me. She is, apparently, dating Odysseus and understandably declined.

Harry are you still dating Katie? I don't want to step on your toes or create ~~another~~ horribly awkward situation by asking someone who's actively dating. Do you think she'd be interested, as a friend?

I assume both of you have your own invitations, but if Katie doesn't work out do you know someone else who might be interested in going with a friendly, not-a-date, escort? Socially I'm like I just spotted the snitch at the very other end of the pitch.

Personally I'd find if very useful if people get a group together to revise for NEWTS instead of just tutoring OWLS (which I'm not sure is really my place any more) If anyone wants to talk about what to expect in seventh year in any of my NEWTS I'd be happy to.

I know we talked a bit about this over the summer, but I'll repeat most of my life decisions have been pragmatic rather than ideological.

It's been another week of exercise, exercise and more exercises, but never pushing too hard because then I might hurt myself.

Jaspar's in a snit because he's not going to Hogwarts this fall, but his friends Hazel Oxley and Hereward Whitby are. Shelley thinks that the world should run to her whim and becomes incredibly shrill and repetitive when thwarted. Lilith's just started eating, or wearing as the case may be, solid food.

Last week Mum was on about painting being wonderful therapy. Yesterday she asked why I wasn't writing poetry anymore. The last time I wrote "poetry" was a card for her first year in the village school. I think it was something like:

Thank you again for talking over the weekend. It's nice to talk about life and stuff. I can talk about Quidditch and girls with almost anyone. I've got adults I can talk to about some of it, but other pieces... not a good idea to talk to them about it.

So thanks again. It really helps to talk out loud about all the bits and pieces to see how they fit together.

I think that I'll be meeting Linus to go over the data for our teensy little research project. If you want to stop by some time this evening we could discuss it and decide who to give it to.

We should also do a team strategy discussion on whether it's that time in the match to switch from fancy misdirects to slamming the bludger right down the middle whatever fouls that might incur. And who best to take that chance.

Congratulations Harry on yet another amazing catch to squeak out a win for Slytherin.

My team, I'm proud of the hard work and dedication you all have shown this year. It's been a hard year with many unusual difficulties. You fought, you struggled and you persevered. I look forward to coming back to watch you all build on what we started this year.

The ending of my quidditch season brings home just how close I am to being done here at Hogwarts. This has been my home for seven years. There are still three more months, but I'm already feeling nostalgic. The uncertainty of the future looms.

Johnson if you could see to your Prefect duties and collar your twin trouble makers, I need to ask them a few pointed questions immediately after lunch tomorrow.

Marvolo and Davies, I'd like to talk to you about Quidditch for a few minutes after that. Johnson if you can stick around for that meeting as well it would be nice.

Well played all. It was exciting and instructive to see the players who make up the future of quidditch here at Hogwarts get time on the pitch in front of everyone.

Hufflepuff quidditchers, if you have any interest in securing my recommendation to Professor Sprout as my successor in the captaincy, please give me a written analysis of today's game before our practice next Saturday. Focus on the players you think are likely to be starters next year (tell me why you think they are likely starters as well. Did Harry make the right choice to catch the snitch when he did? Did Ms Chang's play force him to make the losing catch? How would you decide between Mr Crabbe & Mr Goyle and Mr Derwent & Mr Croaker for the beater positions? How would you prepare our side to play either of the teams of likely starters you identified? and any other pertinent analysis you might wish to make. I like to see this analysis in writing before our practice session next Saturday.

Some stuff has been stressing me a huge amount. I think I need to exercise until I drop. I tried flying yesterday afternoon and that didn't catch the snitch, even with team practice afterwards
I know you get extra instruction in duelling from Raz. Do you think we could get together and practice till we drop, either this evening or some time tomorrow?

The owled packaged arrived from my mother. She sent a couple bottles of both Forsby's Fixative and Eglantine Engelbert's Elixir of Elegance. She also included some others Pence's Permanent Portraiture and Lasting Landscapes, though she says the last are know for being for their specific specialities. There's a whole line of different potions specializing in different artistic styles which she didn't include since it didn't sound like what we needed. She also sent along her favourite potion recipes for as she put it 'the artist in the field' mostly for sketches and 'the struggling artist' with a note that it has a much shorter duration and incredibly cheap ingredients.

I was checking the stores earlier today for the ingredients we discussed. There are only two spools of spider silk. One was collected under the new moon and the other is rather old. I think we should make a short expedition into the edge of the Forest to collect some fresh. If you are up for it, I'll let Mr Milland know we'll be going into the edge of the forest sometime tomorrow.

Could you let Lee and Pansy know? Only being able to message two people is awkward.

Harry and Pansy,
I talked with Harry last night about working together on a mystery project. After talking with Fred and George Weasley they also suggested that we add you as well Pansy. So I'm happy to extend the invitation to the two of you to join us and Lee Jordan in making illusion masks for the Halloween Feast. The basic idea is that we create blank masks that can be spelled with various illusions. If it works out right we'll be creating a set of badgers, lions, ravens and snakes, plus whatever else we come up with. There will also be blank masks that people can spell themselves.

We've got a room in the Astronomy tower that Professor Siz has agreed to let us use as a workshop for the project and we have limited access to the school stores for testing purposes.

If this sounds like something you'd like to help with, let me know so I can tell Professor Siz and she can set the wards to let us in. We're hoping to meet after the Gryffindor Quidditch practice for a bit and really get to work Saturday afternoon.
